Origin Story
The CASFFA was founded in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic when small fitness, health, and wellness businesses and industry professionals faced some of the most severe restrictions and obstacles. During that time, we were one of the only organizations actively collaborating with local/state health officials & government to ensure that businesses in this sector had a voice in public health policies, reopening guidelines, and economic recovery efforts.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to support, advocate for, and empower small fitness, health, and wellness businesses in CA by providing education, funding, and resources to help them thrive. Many of these businesses serve as critical pillars of their communities, offering affordable and inclusive fitness and wellness services that promote public health, economic development, and neighborhood revitalization.
We believe in collaborating with government agencies, not working against them, to shape public health policies and initiatives that recognize the essential role of small fitness and wellness businesses in preventative healthcare and community well-being. Through advocacy, grant opportunities, and business training, we are committed to strengthening this industry while expanding access to support health equity, economic opportunity, and long-term business sustainability.
